Clinic Assistant - Veterinary/Customer Service

VIP Petcare is a fast paced, innovative company looking for honest, professional team members who have a passion for pets and the people who love them. We provide a wide variety of preventative pet care services through our community clinics.

We are currently hiring for a Veterinary Clinic Assistant to join our growing team! We are looking for enthusiastic, team players to work part-time out of our East Syracuse office for our weekend clinics (Saturday and Sunday). 


The VIP Petcare Clinic Assistant is responsible for providing superior customer service to all clients and support to Veterinarians at assigned clinic locations.

Essential Functions/Job Duties

  • Provide customer service to clients by answering questions and assisting them through the clinic process
  • Process payments and review paperwork with clients
  • Log tests and microchips per company policy
  • Scan pets for microchips
  • Dispense and properly label medications
  • Educate clients on wellness and preventative care
  • Assist in assessing pet lifestyle to determine which preventatives and vaccines are best suited, and make recommendations based on need as necessary
  • Restrain pets for vaccinations, blood draws and other procedures
  • Prepare canine and feline vaccines, as well as blood and fecal samples
  • Clean up after pets including saliva, urine, feces, and vomit
  • Drive van to and from clinics responsibly; load and unload the vans upon arrival and departure
  • Live our values and reinforce our brand promise with our partners, clients and team members
  • Other duties as assigned

Reporting structure

  • Field Operations Manager and/or Assistant Field Operations Manager; takes direction from Rig Supervisor

Education and Training

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous customer service or sales experience preferred
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Safe driving record

Licenses and Certification

  • Valid Driver’s License required

  • Must successfully pass criminal history background check and motor vehicle record check


  • Must enjoy and be comfortable working with pets of all sizes and temperaments, including handling and lifting animals as necessary
  • Ability to drive motor vehicles in various terrain and weather conditions
  • Sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Large percentage of work day may be spent in vehicle
  • Work for prolonged periods of time at a desk utilizing a computer
  • Work for prolonged periods of time in the field, including 12-14 hours days on occasion
  • Fast-paced, fluid work environment
  • Lift up to 150 pounds assisted
  • Stand/walk/move about for prolonged periods of time while at a clinic
  • Schedule includes weekends, with occasional overnight and holiday work
  • Some outdoor clinic work and activities may be necessary

Starting Pay

  • $14.00/hour
